DesiLingo (“we”, “us”) operates lingodesi.com. This page explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.
What we collect
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used and roughly where visitors are (country/region level). This uses cookies and similar identifiers.
- Advertising. We show ads via Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented.
- Account & purchases. If you sign in or buy a course, PDF or Tools Pass, we store your email and purchase record (via Firebase and our payment processor, Razorpay) so you can access what you bought. We never see or store your card details.
Advertising & cookies
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors at aboutads.info/choices. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked to consent before any advertising or analytics cookies are set; you can change your choice any time by clearing this site's cookies.

- Opt out of personalised ads via the links above.
- Request deletion of your account data by emailing us (see below).
Children
Our content is designed for families and teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Accounts and purchases are intended to be made by adults.
The Desilingo mobile app
This policy also covers the Desilingo app (iOS/Android, package app.bhasha.learn). The app's data practices differ slightly from this website — it shows no ads and doesn't use AdSense or advertising cookies. Instead:
- Sign-in. Signing in with Apple or Google is optional and only needed to back up lesson progress or restore a Premium subscription. We receive your name/email as permitted by you — never your Apple/Google password.
- Progress & purchases. Lesson progress, streaks, badges, and subscription status are stored via Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) tied to your account if signed in, or only on-device otherwise.
- Analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to see which screens and features are used, so we can fix problems and prioritise content. This isn't used for advertising.
- Camera (Word Scan). The Word Scan feature reads text from a photo entirely on-device (Google ML Kit). Photos are never uploaded to us or stored anywhere.
- Deleting app data. Email us (below) with your sign-in address to delete your account and synced progress. Local, unsynced progress can be cleared from the app's Settings → Reset, or by deleting the app.
