Marathi negation with नाही
नाही (nāhī) is Marathi's all-purpose negator. It typically comes after the verb it negates, and doubles as the everyday word for "no."

मी जात नाही
mī jāt nāhī
नाही follows the verb — the reverse of Hindi's word order.
No (plain answer)

Negates existence.
I don't have money
माझ्याकडे पैसे नाहीत
mājhyākaḍe paise nāhīt
Negates possession — नाहीत agrees with a plural noun (पैसे, "money," is grammatically plural).

Negates an identity/description statement.

Marathi marks formality in "you" and, unusually for the region, splits "we" into inclusive and exclusive forms. Marathi nouns and pronouns also inflect for three genders — masculine, feminine, and neuter — which verbs agree with.
