Vaisakhi is Punjab's great harvest festival, when the golden wheat is ready to cut — and, for Sikhs, the day in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib. Gurdwaras hold nagar kirtan processions, and village fairs ring with dhol and bhangra.
